Welcome to Durty Nelly's, created in the image of the oldest pub in Ireland - over 400 years old. Durty Nelly's is located in the county of Clare, next to Bunratty Castle. The Castle was built in the early 1400's by the McNamara family, but fell shortly to the O'Brien's. Admiral Penn, Father of William Penn, resided here for a short time. Legend says the the old pub was a watering hole for castle guards back in the day and Nelly was a barkeep who warmed their soul with a smile & taste of spirits. Ask anyone what comes to mind when they think of Ireland and they will no doubt say "green". While that is certainly true, there is a place in the west of Ireland that is not green - that place is called the Burren. This is a huge limestone area that is nothing but rocks, this is where Durty Nelly's is found. I once heard a tourist who made a suggestion to one of the residents. "If you could find a use for all this stone, you'd be a millionaire." He quickly replied "If it had any value, the English would have taken it long ago." I'd like to welcome you to our Durty Nelly's to enjoy a meal, conversation or a friendly pint. In the tradition of Ireland, raise your glasses for an Irish toast. "May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessing, slow to make enemies, quick to make friends, but rich or poor, quick or slow, may you have nothing but happiness from this day forward." “Céad Míle Fáilte” Thank You & Visit Us Again, Stephen Pondok
